Jeannie Hensley didn’t believe there was a love that could rival that between a mother and her children — until she became a grandparent. When her grandson, Parker, was born premature and required NICU services, she realized the importance of care close to home without having to leave your support system.

“Lives are saved every day by caring and loving individuals,” she says. “The men and women who devote their lives to caring for others and our local healthcare system are critical to our community. I find comfort in knowing we have quality professionals right here who are ready to take care of me and my family should we need it.”

Her personal experience prompted Jeannie to get involved. Since the birth of her grandson, she has served on the board of directors for Baptist Health Foundation Corbin and Baptist Health Corbin.

“It is important to be able to receive skilled, compassionate care without having to travel far from home,” she says. “I am hopeful my voice can help others hear about what the foundation is doing to not only benefit our hospital, but to provide direct assistance to patients and staff during times of hardship.”

Through 42 years in banking at Cumberland Valley National Bank, Jeannie is ingrained in the local community and is devoted to the growth and development of the place that she has always considered home.
“I firmly believe that one kind word and smile can change someone’s entire day,” she says. “You may not be in the position to provide monetary support, but you can give back in a variety of ways, including your time, words of affirmation, and gestures of gratitude. When we come together, there is no doubt that not only will we propel our community to new heights, but we can support our friends, family and neighbors when they need us most.”
